Accommodation Tax Notice

Please note that accommodation taxes are applied to all stays in Niseko Town and Hokkaido.

About the Taxes

From November 1, 2024, Niseko Town has introduced an accommodation tax. In addition, a Hokkaido-wide accommodation tax is scheduled to apply from April 2026.

These taxes are charged per person, per night, based on the accommodation fee, and are collected by the accommodation provider on behalf of the local government.

Tax Amount (Reference)

Niseko Town Accommodation Tax (per person per night):

  • ¥5,001 – ¥19,999: ¥200

  • ¥20,000 – ¥49,999: ¥500

  • ¥50,000 – ¥99,999: ¥1,000

  • ¥100,000 and above: ¥2,000

Hokkaido Accommodation Tax (from April 2026):

  • Up to ¥19,999: ¥100

  • ¥20,000 – ¥49,999: ¥200

  • ¥50,000 and above: ¥500

In Niseko, both taxes apply together, and the total tax amount depends on your nightly rate.

Payment Method

  • Until October 31:
    Accommodation tax will be collected separately on-site at check-in.

  • From November 1 onward:
    The accommodation tax will be included in the accommodation fee shown at the time of booking.

Important Notes

  • Tax is calculated per person, per night

  • Applies to all guests (including children)

  • Based on room rate (excluding meals and consumption tax)
